Log types management

Configure data retention settings, log types, and access rules from the Log types management view. Navigate to Log database management > Log types management to access these settings.

You must be a Superadmin, Admin, or a user assigned the Log Search role to see this page.

Name Description

Storage health indicator

Reports the database health status. The possible states are:

Green

The database is in a good state. No actions are required.

Yellow

The database reports a warning. Verify that there is enough disk space and memory to avoid service disruption.

Red

The database reports an error. Action is required to recover it.

Retention health indicator

Reports the retention status based on the current log ingestion trend. The possible states are:

Green

The data retention period is sufficient for the current log volume.

Yellow

The data retention period might not be sufficient for the current log volume.

Red

The data retention period cannot sustain the current log volume. Some logs might be lost.

Total logs stored

Displays the total number of log records in the database.

Storage space

Provides log database storage statistics, including:

  • A gauge showing the percentage of used space and an estimate of days until the database runs out of space. The estimate is a projection based on the disk usage of the last five days.

  • The amount of used storage space.

  • The amount of free storage space.

Current global data retention time

The current data retention period. See Set global data retention for more information.

Access rules

Displays the current access rules, if any. You can add or edit access rules from this widget. See Create an access rule for more information.

Log type settings

A table listing the log types available in the database. Click the actions menu for log type settings.

NXLog Platform automatically creates log types based on the logs it ingests. The log type corresponds to the NXLog Agent SourceModuleName core field. See Core fields for more information.
