System and log database backups
NXLog Platform provides a method to manually back up the logs database, configuration settings, and all other content into a single compressed file with a .tar.gz extension.
You can use the backups to restore the system to full working order on the same or a different machine.
The backup process incurs downtime but it does not cause any loss of data. NXLog Platform is inaccessible while the backup is in progress.
Disaster recovery considerations
By default, NXLog Platform creates backups locally on the same machine, so they will be lost during a disaster event affecting that machine. For this reason, NXLog recommends synchronizing the backup files to a safe remote location for long-term storage or disaster recovery purposes immediately after they are complete.
